Matt Watson has over 14 years experience coaching basketball, ranging from coaching Pee-Wees to consulting at a Division II College. Matt coaches because he has always lived, breathed and eaten basketball. In addition, he loves kids are is tired or seeing our minority men not being given a fair chance in society.
From 1983 to 1985, Matt played basketball for Elizabeth Seton Junior College at Iona College and graduated with an Associated Applied Science degree in Data Processing - Computer Programming. In 1992, Matt joined the Junior Knicks League at West Side YMCA and coached there for eight years. He joined the Safe Haven Basketball League in 1995, coaching there for four years. In 1995, he also co-founded Bombsquad Basketball, Inc, a non-profit organization created to teach youth basketball in the summer. Bombsquad also helps some young men achieve scholarships by introducing them to college coaches and going on college tours.
Matt graduated from Brooklyn College in 2002, attaining a Bachelors Degree in CPA Qualified Accounting. He worked as a consultant for St. Thomas Aquinas in summer of 2003, teaching basketball players low post skills and life skills. He started working as a basketball referee with the B-Ball Referee Organization in 2003.
Matt joined Gladiator Sports in 2004 and we are honored to have his as part of our coaching team. It is with great pride that we induct Matt Watson into the Gladiator Sports Hall of Fame!
