Lewis Winston is a graduate of Loyola High School of Towson, Maryland. A standout athlete, he played Junior Varsity baseball in the 9th and 10th grades. He also played 3 years of varsity basketball and scored over 1,300 points in his high school career. He attended Millersville University and became a starter for the men's basketball team from 1984 to 1987. He was named 1st Team All Freshman PSAC in 1985 and still holds the record for most assists in a single game.
Lewis later became a member of the Turner Station Recreation Council. He was the Basketball Coordinator and Coach from 1993 through 1996 and 2000 through 2007. He was the Assistant Varsity Coach for Dundalk High School from 1994 to 1996. Lewis is currently the coach and league chairperson for Instructional League 8 and under.
Lewis is currently employed with Howard County Fire and Rescue and holds the rank of lieutenant after 18 years of service. He is the President of the Phoenix Sentinels, Howard County chapter of the International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters (IABPFF). He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Incorporated. Lewis is a single father of three, Shaneen, Marques and Maliq.
